A wet hike on the Isle de la Impressionists

Setting the standard

We ventured to the Rueil and Chatou area -- western Paris suburbs famous as the site where the impressionist painters did their work -- and where Dick does comparable work today. Here's Dick with the Exxon building in across the river (Yes, there is something in Paris greyer than Dick!):

We started about at the middle of the island where many Impressionists painted and we hiked back to the subway station.

Barges passed by in the river. Here's one through the trees showing the crew's automobile on deck. (The barges aren't all that big. The crew will unload the car with a crane and drive it on shore).

There are no houses on this island, but each bank of the Seine opposed to the Island holds mansions like this:
