The old town ("Stari Grad") is filled with stone houses which we found mostly closed-up in the rain -- despite the fact that the tourist office claims this to be the sunniest spot in Europe. (It averages over 7 hours per day.) This island supports itself by producing excellent red and white wines, lavender -- and, of course, tourism.
