Nantucket -- So we have to explain the Unitarian Universalist Meeting House from this model we found inside. Built in 1809 and updated in the 1840s, the structure here appears to be a simple (but large) early 19th century meeting house with a wood frame upon a brick foundation. Note there is no dome above the nave. Its bell was delivered around the start of the War of 1812 when the British threatened the island. Consequently, it was hidden until the war ended and has been ringing 152 times, 3 times a day. The bell was so heavy that the original tower had to be rebuilt in 1831.
