Bergamo, Lomardy, Italy -- July 2006 -- ...It is, of course, the symbol of Venice which dominated this town for centuries. The winged lion is the traditional symbol the the evangelist Mark who became the patron saint of Venice after Venetians stole his remains from Egypt.
