Ettal Abbey, Bavaria, Germany -- At center is a gold Nativity scene, Straub's adoration of the shepherd from around 1760. Catholics (at least baroque Catholics) have a lot gilt. Did you catch the ox at bottom, the symbol of the evangelist Luke but also suggestive of the animals in that stable depicted in the relief just above.
