Nantucket -- Fooled ya? The German-born American artist Carl Wendte was 23 years old when he received his first commission here. He had first come to the US to decorate the Treasury Building in Washington, D.C. (Perhaps this was the first time that we were fooled by the U.S. Treasury.)Wendte used water-based paints. His work was recently restored.
