A thoughtful essay (at http://www.artpapers.org/feature_articles/feature2_2003_0506.htm ) claims that one of these sculptures was struck by lightning. Our guide said that all of them had been freshly restored. Given 35 mph gusts of wind, we chose to photograph these from a distance.
