Nantucket -- Let's look at how the wealthy in Nantucket lived before the whaling wealth grew. Here was the home of Jethro Coffin, scion of a wealthy family and one of the most lavish houses of its day when it was built as a wedding gift in 1686. A blacksmith, Jethro was the grandson of one of the island's founders. It was struck by lightening in 1987 but lovingly rebuilt the Nantucket Historical Association. The walls inside provide documentation on how these old homes are built and restored.
