Kalaloch Lodge, Olympic National Park

The first order of the day after arrival was a cocktail party.  Since weight wasn't an issue, we broke out the beer for all except the two teetotalers in this picture who seem to be making up for the lack of alcohol by eating crackers and oysters.

This spot has been in use since the 1920s, before there were roads here.  The first building were built from drift wood found on the beaches.  During WWII, the complex was used as a Coast Guard Station.  In 1978, the US Park Service bought it and turned it back over to recreational use.
